Icom F50v VHF Portable Radio
The Icom F50v waterproof type approved VHF portable radio with waterproof Speaker Microphone is ideal for Search and Rescue operations in all conditions.
The very feature packed ‘sophisticated’ radio is very simple to operate and is proving itself to be extremely reliable.
The IC-F50V has outstanding protection against dust and water that is equivalent to IP67. The IC-F50V can withstand submersion in 1m depth of water for up to 30 minutes and has dust-tight construction that prevents the ingress of dust.
We operate this radio with an 1700mAh Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery pack which gives us around 10 hours of operation. We also carry a ‘AA battery dry cell’ battery pack in reserve in case of prolonged operations out in the field.
To further increase the range of this radio, we fit a ‘floppy jim’ aerial which is a 1/2 wave antenna made out of PVC tubing, flexible tape measure metal strip, and coaxial cable.
